A MEDITATION ON BROWNIAN MOTION

Try and imagine all the random movements that brought every grain of sand on this beach to its location in this picture. That's about the scale of motions happening to the molecules of air inside our 1/4 inch cube. Every second. The ordinary is getting pretty extraordinary, isn't it?

Try and imagine all the random motions that brought every grain of sand on this beach to its location in this picture. That's about the scale of motions happening to the molecules of air inside our 1/4 inch cube. Every second. The ordinary is starting to get pretty extraordinary, isn't it?

[This chapter continues the “assignment” from my Spirit Guide, See Do, to examine the complexities of our mundane reality. The specific construct given me to examine is a hypothetical cube ¼ inch on a side, floating in the air about a foot in front of my face. These meditations on our temporal reality will be followed by an examination of “See Do reality.”]

And in addition to the heat energy that continually comes into the cube from various directions and the natural air movements in the room, there is this little thing called Brownian Motion. This is the natural random movement of molecules in a gas or liquid. It is much more energetic then you might expect. The molecules are all moving all over the cube all the time. The little vibrations of heat energy send them scattering constantly.

A dramatic way to demonstrate this is to take a single human hair(even an eyelash) and burn it in a candle flame. Notice how quickly the entire space of the room, or of the house, has clear evidence of some of that very distinctive smell. It is almost unbelievable how quickly it moves. And remember, our sense of smell is not very sensitive at all. There are species of moth that can smell the pheromones of a potential mate at a distance of twenty miles. And track it to its source. There are probably some of those in our little cube too.

But everything in the room is emitting molecules of its own material into the air all the time. If you walk around and smell everything, you’ll find that everything has a “smell”. Now you usually can’t smell it unless you get very, very close, but those molecules are sloughing off just the same.

If something does “smell” or have an obvious odor, like a candle, perfume, deodorant, soap, shampoo, flowers, just to name some obvious things that might be around, it is because is has more volatile material in its make-up. Meaning that it is made of things that are more likely to evaporate into the air.

Anyway, all of these molecules are moving out through the room all the time. And with the very present help of Brownian Motion, you can be sure that our little cube is home to at least a little bit of everything that is in the room. And no doubt much that is beyond.

So there is at least a little of everything around you, everything within sight, right there at your fingertips. Is the “real” world beginning to blur a bit? Hang on, there’s more.

A MEDITATION ON VISIBLE LIGHT

To the naked eye this is just a tiny white chip of shell. At 20X magnification we can see it is the very core of a sea shell laid bare. These curves and spirals and counter spirals repeat across the universe. The same beauty captured by our most powerful telescopes. This image is less than 1/8 inch wide. Imagine its origins. And it's path to these pixels.

To the naked eye this is just a tiny, nearly featureless, white chip of shell. At 20X magnification we can see it is the very core of a sea shell, worn down and laid bare. You'll find these curves and spirals and counter spirals repeat across the universe. The same beauty captured by our most powerful telescopes. The subject of this image is less than 1/8 inch across. Imagine its origins. And its path to these pixels.

But there are other things besides myriad photons inside our little cube. Dust will also have the effect of diffusing the light. The photons hit a dust particle and new photons are sent out in random directions with the energy that matches the apparent color of the dust. The water vapor in the cube will be doing the same thing. If you look out your window, and are lucky enough to be able to see pretty far, you’ll see this effect clearly. Painters call it “aerial perspective.” It helps make sunsets so beautiful.

But visible light is not the only thing passing through our quarter-inch cube. Far from it. There are also energies all up and down the electromagnetic spectrum. Visible light just happens to be a narrow band about right in the middle. Our eyes came about to make best use of this narrow range because they naturally developed to detect the strongest of the sun’s radiation available at the Earth’s surface. And in the center of the visible range is the strongest of the sun’s frequencies, at about 550 nanometers, along between about green and yellow. And our eyes are most sensitive to that, trailing off to either side, out through red on one side and blue-violet on the other. The radiation beyond those colors, we can’t “see”, but it’s there.

If we consider all the information of lower energy and frequency than visible light, well, there is an entire new universe of information. Just past visible red is the range of energies known as infrared. We feel this as heat. If you had an infrared camera, the room around you would look a lot different. You’d be glowing orange and yellow. Across the room the light bulb would be even brighter.

And all that heat energy is moving around the room trying to reach some sort of equilibrium. That little cube of air in front of you is being jostled by the effects of the heat energy coming off of your body. All around you, the air is being warmed by you. As it warms it causes the air molecules to vibrate a little more and as they do they dance further apart, causing the air to become slightly less dense. As it does, this less dense, lighter air moves up, being displaced by denser heavier air around it. This swirling, tumbling of air happens all around you.

As the heat dissipates, it passes through our cube of air and stirs it.

If it’s not stirring your spirit, hang on. The soup thickens.

A MEDITATION ON COLORED SURFACES

This is a tiny fleck of embryonic coral. The photo is just 1/8 inch across. Those are grains of sand on the surface. Every individual cell wall of its growing form built this spiral. A wonder of nature, but to the eye it appears on the beach as a blank white chip. A typical beach will hold perhaps billions.

A wonder of nature, but to the eye it appears on the beach as a miniscule blank white chip. A typical beach may hold billions.

As light moves through the cube of air it completely ignores most of the material in the cube. Most of it. It doesn’t interact with the air molecules much at all. The air, which is mostly nitrogen and oxygen with a little water vapor, trace gases and some stuff we call dust, is mostly transparent to these photons. By transparent, I mean that they do not interact with the electrons around the nuclei of the oxygen and nitrogen atoms much at all.

For something to be “seen” by us, the atoms it is made of go through this little dance. I’ll try to explain it here in simple terms, but please forgive me if I reach out too far into technical la-la land. But this is how it is.

You see, first a photon enters or ‘hits” an outer electron’s cloud of probability in such a way as to bring the electron to a realized state. In this state, the electron absorbs the photon and jumps to a higher energy state. It’s important here to understand that it will only do this if the energy or “frequency” of the photon energy is in sync with the energy the electron would need to jump up to its next possible energy state. If the energies don’t match, the photon flies right by and nothing happens.

But if they match, the electron jumps up to a higher energy. With this higher energy electron, the atom now exhibits a higher energy. This higher energy shows by making the atoms jostle or wiggle a little bit. Actually I should say a little bit more, because all atoms are always jiggling, unless they are frozen at absolute zero.

This wiggling is what we think of as heat. And once the atom jiggles off a little, the electron falls back to its original lower energy state and sends out a new photon. This new photon is the same “frequency” as the wiggle. Which is just a little less than the energy of the original incoming photon. This new photon flies away at the usual speed of light in an entirely random direction. This photon, if we’re in the right place, hits our eye, and viola, we see something. And we see this something as having a color, because our eyes have little sensors that are tuned to detect photon energy of the very narrow band of energy we think of as visible light. How that tiny pulse in the back of our eye gets transformed into our coherent visual image of the world is a subject for another time.

Of course, in reality, the whole thing a lot more complex. And there is a whole lot more going on. A whole lot more. For example, to see an object as having a color, all the photons of the energy of that color are the ones that go through the process I just described. The others are absorbed and not re-radiated. In that case, those other photons are absorbed by the electron, and the atom expresses all of that new energy in its jiggling. The material just gets a little warmer. But you really already knew that. You just didn’t know you knew it. Black clothes are warmer. White are cooler.

All the original light plus a lot of new light, that’s right, these new photons were just created right there in front of you on the surfaces of everything in the room, all that light is now moving through the tiny cube in front of you.

And some of the air molecules in our little cube do interact with the light streaming through. Not many, but a few. That’s partly why we see a diffuse haze in air at a distance. That diffusion, you’ll notice, has a blue cast, because that’s the frequency of the energy that gets turned into a new photon during those somewhat rare interactions. If you go outside on a nice day and look up you’ll see proof. The sky is blue.

            It gets better.

A MEDITATION ON LIGHT

This was the only shell we picked up that day. Tiny, white and featureless. But under closer examination a new universe emerged. Perfectly etched spirals and grooves. All reflecting the perfect proportions. The "divine proportion," it has been called. This image is about 1/8 inch across. The shell's perfection is staggering.

This was the only shell we picked up that day. No bigger than a small pea. Tiny, white and, to the naked eye, featureless. But under closer examination, a new universe emerged. Perfectly etched spirals, all reflecting the perfect proportions. The "divine proportion," it has been called. This image is about 1/8 inch across. The shell's perfection is staggering.

You see, this cube of ours is just a tiny little thing. But to jump straight off the edge, let’s start with visible light. You must come to understand and appreciate the raw amount of visual information that is passing through that space at every given point in time. You can walk around and look through the cube from every possible angle and you will see that all the visual information from across the room, or across the city, or if you are outside or near a window at night, across the universe; it’s all traveling through the cube. And it is all traveling through the cube all the time. Constantly and continually. And utterly uninterrupted.

Now to demonstrate the sheer mass of data there, you can take a powerful telescope up to the cube and you will be able to see great detail coming back from great distances. If you imagine a beautiful photograph of another galaxy, you must accept that if the cube is within direct sight of that galaxy, then all that same information is passing through the cube. Right now.

If you take a microscope up to the cube and can see the finest detail in a bit of cloth or a dust particle, or beautiful pollen particle floating by, you must accept that all of that data is flying through the cube constantly.

If you arranged a thousand cameras around one side of the cube and they all took an exposure at the same exact instant, they would obviously all capture a complete photograph, through the cube, of the other side of the room. None would be starved for data, even though they all required that all of the information they recorded had to have transited the cube at exactly the same instant.

Take one of those dentist mirrors, the little round mirror on a short wand, and put it into the cube and move it all around to see in every direction. It’s all there; nothing is missing. And it’s all there even when the mirror isn’t. It’s that visual light that, in fact, allows you to see the mirror, or I should say, to see the frame and back of the mirror.

So it should be clear then that all the possible visual information in the reality all around this cube is constantly streaming through it in every direction. This information is in the form of visible light, which is made up of photons, tiny wave-particle packets of electromagnetic energy that are utterly massless(at rest) and move at the speed of light, which is 186,000 miles per second. Now, I know, all too well I’m afraid, that everything I’ve just told you about the actual photon is completely incomprehensible. The ideas are too foreign, the numbers are both too large and too small. The sheer amount of photons that are moving through that little cube at any moment is utterly unbelievable. But it is happening. Our temporal reality science knows it and guarantees it to be true.

Now imagine all the one-quarter-inch cubes of air in the room and try and realize that they are all experiencing the same traffic in photons. There is an utterly impossible amount of visual information moving around you. It all flies by at the speed of light and does not interfere with any of the other information moving through the same space at the same time. But as they say, there it is.

Next, we’ll look inside, at the contents of the cube.

A MEDITATION ON MUNDANE REALITY

A tiny shell, little more than 1/4 inch long. Until I saw it under the microscope, I thought it held a grain of sand. That grain is the tinier shell. The events that joined them are unfathomable. The energies and histories flowing around you right now are no less complex. We'll look close now at a small piece of our reality and reflect. Oh, Once again, the ripples in the background are my fingerprint pressed into clay.

A tiny shell, little more than 1/4 inch long. Until I saw it under the microscope, I thought it held a grain of sand. That grain is the tinier shell, held fast within. The events that joined them are unfathomable. The energies and histories flowing around you right now are no less complex. We'll look close at a small piece of our own reality and reflect. Oh, once again, the ripples in the background are my fingerprint pressed into clay.

The next week, everything seemed to slow down. Communication seemed off and See Do was harder to reach. Most of the week, when I tried to make contact, there was just this vague sense of needing to dig deeper into understand some of the complexities in this temporal reality around me. For some reason, this is important.

And I’m not sure if it’s literally important, meaning that there may be some hard information there that I need to make part of my background of understanding. Or whether it’s just important as a mind-expanding and spiritual exercise, meaning that doing the heavy lifting of understanding all this complexity will ready my mind(and my soul) for what See Do has in store next. But either way, I spent much of my “spare time” this week working on it.

And what comes next has also been revealed to me. After this meditation on our temporal reality, comes a more detailed explanation of what I call “See Do reality,” or the mechanics behind what See Do has been explaining over the previous 40 chapters. (As we move toward that, you are obviously encouraged to go back and review some of what has been taught so far.)

Please understand that what you’re about to read in this meditation did not come directly from See Do. I believe he merely sent me after it. I dug deep into many sources and now believe the research itself was also part of the lesson.

What I’m going to explore over the next several chapters goes back to the incredible amount of information that is constantly moving through the apparent world around us that we are almost completely unaware of. In fact, much of it is undetectable to us by our five senses, but it is clearly there.

And perhaps that is the key word here, apparent. Maybe there is something in understanding the opposite of what I’ve been trying to understand. Maybe I’m supposed to understand the nearly unimaginable complexity of our “apparent” temporal reality construct versus the “real” or “See Do reality” behind it. I can’t answer that just yet. But I can walk you through the world I’ve been looking into all week.

The basic conceptual framework I was given to work with is the idea of coming to terms with everything that is going on inside a hypothetical cube that is roughly one-quarter-inch on a side, floating in the air a foot in front of my face.

Take a breath and imagine it. Shape it between your fingers. Each surface is a little smaller than the fingernail on your pinky. It’s about half the dimensions of a common sugar cube. About the size of a nice blueberry, but square. If you have a TV remote nearby, the physical volume of one of the buttons will do just fine.

And what I’m going to lay out in the coming chapters is just an overview, a glimpse. This exercise could easily fill a book. Or a collection of books. It is nothing short of an attempt to really look at this temporal reality that we all feel so familiar with. And I now know I have seen just barely beneath the surface of something very deep and complex.

I’ll give some time to consider this task on your own. Or perhaps you might want to do some of your own research. But in the next chapter we begin. And it starts with something as simple and as beautiful as light. Please stay tuned.

–continued (Next: We look at the world of light that envelops us.)

RE-VISITING TRUE BEING, Part 2

§ November 14th, 2009 § Filed under Chapter 41: Part II of Re-visiting True Being § Tagged , , , , , , , , § No Comments

In True Being you will see the world in all its incredible and beautiful complexity. And you will freely act to bring your true passions out into the world. This is the beginning. The simplest instruction. See. Do. This is how you will unlock all of the secrets you thought were kept from you.

In True Being you will see the world in all its incredible and complex beauty. And you will freely act to bring your true passions out into the world. This is the beginning. The simplest instruction. See. Do. This is how you will unlock all of the secrets you thought were kept from you.

As my Spirit Guide, See Do, continued he explained that the other pat of ‘True” in True Being is the responsibility to yourself and to the world. To yourself you will be being True. You will be feeling Love that you can only feel for your highest sense of being. You will know yourself as the person who you can most admire. You will see yourself as a complete and whole being. Everything in you will be understood and accepted. All pasts will be acknowledged, praised or forgiven. And you will see yourself as being fully forgiving of everything that has happened outside of you.

You will be completely capable of extending this forgiving spirit out from just forgiving those past transgressions and bringing it fully into the present.

Here you will be able to entangle True Being with your real-temporal-time view of the world to be a complete and forgiving spirit here in the present. You will be able to see out into the world and make a real-time connection with yourself as you instantly resonate through everything and everyone around you. You will live in the understanding that you are in everything and that everything shines into you. And out of you. You will feel the True affinity for the whole of the universe as you present it to you now. And now. And now.

This effect can be astonishing. You can almost feel naked. And you can feel you are walking around with x-ray vision. You can reach a state of compassion that can be both overwhelming and disarming. You can see into people and have a sense of one-ness. You can feel a sense of understanding and appreciation of the complexity of another’s life. And of having compassion for another’s myriad decisions that have gotten them to where they are in this same instant.

The sense of Truth in this True Being is also in the sense of knowing your True self. Of knowing and acknowledging and accepting those things inside you that you must bring out. Those passions and affinities that are locked inside that you can now open up. These are the energies that will now flow through you. These are the antennae to the soul of the universe that you can raise and receive through. You will present your passions to the universe and the universe will write its wisdom through you. This is your ultimate tool in True Being. This is the pathway, or pathways, that you can most easily open up.

You will be the conduit to the amazing. Through your passion you will receive and transmit out into the world around you the resonance of the living soul of the world.

You are connected. There is only one. Through True Being you can complete the circuit and receive the energy to glow as you may have never imagined. And the path is clearly marked.

You must see yourself completely. You must feel the Love within yourself for that highest being that you are within. You must bring that being out to be the actual you in the here and now.

Making that happen may be easy. It may be hard. You will have to uncover any hidden or buried places in your soul that have been put aside and carried around as smoldering dead weight. You will find them and forgive. You will see every event in your life as merely a truth. Not a punishment or reward, those ideas will have been set aside. You will be free now. You will know yourself. And you will now Love yourself fully. And you will openly express that Love in your glowing out into the world.

You will be hard to miss.

And you will see the world before you and you will take it in as the beautiful and incredible place that it is. You will see what is before you and you will act to bring your passions inside of you out into this world. This is the beginning. This is the simplest instruction. See. Do. This is how you will find the world to be what it is. This is how you will unlock all the secrets that you thought were kept from you.

It will take time. Yes, here in this temporal reality, you will have to be a little patient. You will need to try and reach True Being moment by moment. It may come to you in a flash, it may come in layers that build more powerfully. But if you take care to keep yourself True, it will come. Then you will find an amazing world ready to open to you. All the questions you had will start to appear before you as answers. You won’t even have to ask. The expression of everything that will be flowing through you will play out through you and will answer every question you pose.

This is True Being. True Knowing. True Loving. True Seeing. True Doing. It is all the same thing and impossible without all the others. Take one step down the path. And know that you are not alone.

           — continued (Next: See Do sends me on an exploration of the deep complexity of the reality around us.)

RE-VISITING TRUE BEING, Part 1

§ November 11th, 2009 § Filed under Chapter 40: Part I of Re-visiting True Being § Tagged , , , , , , § No Comments

See how the patterns on this bird's feathers reflect the patterns he creates in her passing wake? And vis-a-versa? And how his energy projects out before his approach? You will be the same. In True Being you will be one with the world. And you will be running on a new energy.

See how the patterns on this bird's feathers reflect the patterns he creates in his passing wake? And vis-a-versa? And see how his energy projects out before his approach? You will be the same. In True Being you will be one with the world. And you will be running on a new energy.

On Monday, I was able to contact my Spirit Guide, See Do, and he took me back to a concept that emerged in one of our earlier sessions.

In talking about it I became aware that one of the ways I was communing with See Do was during the actual act of recording this chronicle. The subject we were re-visiting was the concept of “True Being.” While writing, the words “True Being” had spontaneously emerged onto the page, with no forethought whatever. I can remember the first time I typed the words, realizing instantly that they needed to be capitalized.

But now See Do was taking me back to the concept of True Being in order to clarify the idea. He explained that this was a very important concept and that it needed more exploration.

True Being is not True Self, True Soul or True Spirit. The word “Being” is not the same as in human being. It is not the noun, but the verb. It is more like True Existing, True Being-ness or True Be-ing.

The “True” speaks to the responsibility we carry in being here and now. It is more than just honesty, though that certainly is part of it. It is “Your Highest Existence in the Present.” This is your most powerful state here in this temporal reality. It is in this state that you are feeling completely free and whole. It is in this state that you are most vibrant and glowing. In True Being, you are open and sending out your truest sense of what you truly want. In True Being, you are perfectly in tune with your inner Love and are letting it flow out into the universe around you. You are also free to feel and accept the resonance as the world instantly responds to you. As you walk in True Being you can feel the wake of your passing presence. You can see the world before you almost softening and listening as you approach.

In True Being you are seeing things most clearly. And you are most open and accepting of what you see. This is where seeing what is before you takes on an active role in the movement of the world. As you see, you take in and comprehend. You blend in everything you sense in this construct before you.

That wasn’t a mistake. It is right, so let’s take a closer look. In True Being you can see most clearly. And seeing is not just visually seeing. It is the word See Do uses as the composite of the real-temporal-time information that we accept into our biological consciousness to then be overlaid onto the temporal reality construct that our consciousness continually builds. So as you look out, what you “see”, to focus on the visual for a moment, isn’t entirely what your eyes sense.

Or rather, it’s more than what your eyes sense. Your eyes take in a relatively narrow scope of the world at any moment. Your conscious mind uses this information to build a complete and cohesive three-dimensional space around you. For example, there are holes in your visual field and your mind automatically fills them. And you are mostly unaware. The blind spot in each eye is an easily demonstrated example.

So in True Being, when you are seeing most clearly, you are really stepping one foot out ahead of where you were before. In other words, you are closer to the real data your mind is dealing with. The sense of this is that you can feel like you are seeing things anew. Like you are seeing them for the first time.

We all experienced this at times in our lives. Often after a big event, a big change or something dramatic or traumatic that caused us to grasp a new perspective on our lives. We walk out in the same street we’ve walked out into a hundred times and suddenly everything looks new. It comes to us as a sense of new stimulus. We see it fresh. And we feel completely alive. In True Being this is the normal state. You see clearly, everything, as never before.

And you hear everything and smell everything and taste everything and feel everything.

For many people, when we feel this sense in life, we quickly tone it down and revert to the “auto-pilot” approach of before. On auto-pilot we let our mind filter out most of what comes in and just “see” the things it tells us we need to see. Our mind can do an amazingly good job of this. And it’s no wonder. The less you need to be given at the conscious level the less raw processing your mind has to do. At the other end of the scale, in a “blind” state you can walk down a city street an experience almost nothing. You can go entirely inside yourself and walk blocks without “seeing” anything.

Your conscious mind is good at this because it is the easiest path. In True Being, your conscious mind is working at a much different level. However, if you are in fact True Being, you don’t think of it as work. Your entire inner self will be running on a new energy and the effort of sensing and seeing will be much more a joy than a labor. Though it may take practice and patience to get to True Being as more than a fleeting state.

BIG TRAGEDIES vs THE ORDINARY, Part VI

§ November 8th, 2009 § Filed under Chapter 39: Part VI of Big Tragedies vs The Ordinary § Tagged , , , , § No Comments

Our world is alive and will continue to churn. But like the planet, we must keep our balance. Be true within. Know your love within. Know your passion. Work to see. And act to create a better world. Together, our resonance can do anything.

Our world is alive and will continue to churn. But like the planet, we must keep our balance. Be true within. Know your love within. Know your passion. Work to see. And act to create a better world. Together, our resonance can do anything.

And See Do concluded the night session, answering my question completely, and giving me a lot to think about. He summed up the evening:

We need to see what is in front of us. And act. We need to see what can be done to stem the suffering. Starting with our passions within. We need to create a resonance to nurture and support our love within. And it starts within ourselves. We must clarify and see ourselves as true and honest to our highest self. We must understand and forgive everything within. We must accept and embrace our passions. We must create and move and love our inner being fully. We must be that being that we would so want to fully love. We must ignite that glow and carry it into the world and see it resonate across our flimsy frame of time to glow back out of and through the people and events around us.

It is our power. It is our responsibility. To ourselves. And to humanity.

As we shine out into each other, the resonance we create will bring our world out in expression of our passion. The beauty within will glow into form and being. And our castle will rise.

The temporal world around us will continue to breathe and flow over the planet, but we will understand its power and we will respect and admire its fury. We can live in harmony with a place of such exquisite expression of pure energy. Its apparent hospitality will wax and wane. It is not a lap cat, but a beautiful tigress untamed. We will give it our love. And our respect.

Because there is more to come. More hurricanes will sweep our coasts. The earth will tremble. And disease will strike. But we must keep our balance as the Earth tries to keep hers.

Many will die in our time for reasons we will not understand. Many more will carry the torment of loss. Our inner truth must be found. We must work to find the love within. To build our light. And shine it into those around us.

All endings and all beginnings are here with us now. We are small and will occasionally get in the way of Earth’s and Life’s greater unfoldings. And we will need to carry each other some distance.

With our energies in resonance we can do anything. Quite literally anything. Start within. Begin your glow. Know your self and know your passion. Work to see clearly what lies in front of you. And act to bring your passion fully into view.

We will see you and shine back. The world is full of help. We are all very nearby. In fact, we are impossibly near. You will see. Our energies are one. There is no Time. But Time is all there is. There is only one thing.

And we have work to do.

BIG TRAGEDIES vs THE ORDINARY, Part V

What creature dared spend its energies on this tiny and beautiful work of art? And on the bottom of the sea? (for scale, the background ripples are my fingerprint pressed in clay) We each grow more fingernail each day than all the substance of this creature's entire existance. Do you see the message? It is time to participate in life! See? Do!

What creature dared spend its energies on this tiny and beautiful work of art? And at the bottom of the sea? (for scale, the background is my fingerprint pressed in clay) You will grow more fingernail today than all the substance of this creature's entire existance. Do you see the message? It is time to participate in making a better world! See? Do!

My Spirit Guide, See Do, also talked that night about life and the worlds within. How this energy of life is always in motion within us and within all the creatures of the planet. He talked about disease and health and the responsibility to be healthy. To eat and live in ways to prolong life and resist disease. To find peace and to live in a certain harmony with everything around you. And with everything within us.

He said our energies should become full of life and love. They should be steady and clearly glowing. That nothing is better for the health of our life force within.

He said that in the life of the planet, that disease can take hold and move. That many can die. He said we should be ready and able to resist. We should be aware of our health and be living in health.

Everything we do can contribute to what effect these life-movements of the planet can have. Against this infinitely interconnected system we are small and we must be prepared for larger events driven by these forces.

These events and their consequences are all part of living inside this dynamic system of this temporal reality. There are complex forces, large and small, unfolding and refolding. Forces that drive events, with great consequences.

We create our world and it moves around us and through us. We narrowly focus our energies on the tumbling mists in front of us. We try and make out shapes and assemble a life for ourselves. But the greater world is also of our making. It moves on energies that we put in motion. And it moves with force and conviction, with power that interacts and sways everything in our reach. It all comes to us and through us.

The mistake we make it to sit and watch. We can move our energies to create a new resonance of humanity to save each other from suffering.

Here is the new message: Life is not just for our entertainment. It is for our participation. And it is the ordinary as much as the masses that we are responsible to.

And it must start with our own individual ordinary life.

We must take what we have and act according to what we see. Inside ourselves and outside. We operate from inside an illusory construct that paints our temporal reality on a mono-dimensional canvas of Time. Our senses are narrow and mostly limited to measuring environmental contrast, with the exception of color and temperature. But the purpose of life is clear: Using a small tool, we must build a great castle.

You can reach out with a simple idea of what you want and it can come to you. But only if you are freely loving the being within you. If you are honoring your highest ideals and moving to honor your inner passions.  We can build with each other, but only with each other, a greater reality to our wishes. A greater reality to a greater good. We now have to create and build a resonance to rock the planet. A combined humanity can stop any suffering.

On our own we can help a few. And mostly after the fact. And we must see farther. We must look as one into the maelstrom of energies and create a resonance to bouy us all. It will take time, but every new hope is a new joy. And when your inner source is true and loving, this new joy instantly fans out into the consciousness between us.

But let us look at what is happening in the aftermath of a disaster like hurricane Katrina. The number of lives lost was more than eighteen hundred. With over seven hundred missing. People dislocated. Families separated. People lost. Lives utterly disrupted. But look inside and take note of what moves the emotional outpouring. Why do we see the number as significant? Why is suffering invisible until is reaches some imaginary critical mass? These events happen all around us.

All around us the numbers of humanity intersect. What can we make of them? How can we not feel confused and helpless? Where can our energies go?

After Katrina, fuel prices rose toward 4 dollars a gallon. People began driving less. If people drive just ten percent less, that could mean that ten percent fewer people may be killed in auto accidents. That would be over four thousand people in one year. Saved. How do we reconcile such knowledge?

Cigarettes kill hundreds of thousands every year. How do we not see the suffering in front of us. Aren’t car crashes and smoking deaths a calamity to overwhelm Katrina? Even a large earthquake?

We may say that one set is innocent victims and the other set is aware of the risks. But what about those left behind? Families separated. People lost. Children lost. Lives utterly disrupted. It is very much the same.

See Do deftly built his case. The world we create is a living and dynamic place. Connected to all things, our place in it is more than mere spectator. Making a better world will take participation. And your most powerful tool is there inside you.

BIG TRAGEDIES vs THE ORDINARY, Part IV

This is ordinary khaki-colored beach sand under a microscope. The crystal gems are silica, the most common mineral in the Earth's crust. Can you imagine the origins of each grain? The forces that broke them down? That moved them to your feet? Try and see your place in a living universe. And see it all connected. There is only one thing. And it is all connected to you. Take a breath, it's just beginning.

This is ordinary beach sand under a microscope. The crystal gems are silica, the most common mineral in the Earth's crust. Can you imagine the origins of each grain? The forces that broke them down? That moved them to your feet? Try and see your place in this living sphere. And try to see it all connected. There is only one thing. And it is all connected to you. Take a breath, it's just beginning.

All through that single night, See Do’s lesson continued. Now he wanted me to better see the planet we ride on.

The Earth is a moving and dynamic system. It is incredibly vibrant and powerful. It only works to support life so well because it has a wealth of natural processes that cleanse and balance and re-nourish it.

We must respect these processes and know that there are countless untold benefits that cascade from their actions.

The Earth moves beneath our feet. The continents collide and subduct. Mountains are thrust up. Basins sink under their own accumulated weight. Water is pushed through solid rock. Minerals coalesce in veins. We find coal and gold and ores. We walk beaches of bleached silica. The planet is kind and helpful beyond any measure of our apparent deserving. Not only is everything here that any industrious and clever being might ever need, it’s all been neatly arranged. There are places where diamonds actually shoot out of holes in the ground to be found by anyone wandering by.

Ores find their way together. Uranium yellowcake appears deep in the Earth as chalky fossils of ancient tree limbs, having replaced the decayed plant long ago.

Water tumbles over the surface and carries away dirt and whatever else is lying loose. This sediment is dropped off again when the water slows. This changes the faces of mountains and moves huge masses of land to new places. This shifting weight can tilt huge pieces of real estate. And suddenly. Mountains rise. Basins sink.

And deep below us is a far greater energy. We and our continents float on an inner planet of blazing liquid rock that oozes under pressures and at temperatures we can scarcely imagine. Vast, slow moving plumes of heat energy, not unlike the columns of warm air driving the hurricane, roil and swirl beneath us. We’re all actually riding atop slow-motion storm clouds of molten rock.

This energy moves pieces of earth and rock as large as continents. Driven on these plumes, these plates collide and crash. They side swipe and crumble. One dives under another, to disappear into the molten muck miles below.

Occasionally, this liquid, this magma, does reach the surface in volcanic fury. Mountains have been turned to dust before the eye. Islands have exploded and sank into eternity. And new islands have been born.

Deeper still, twirls a ball off crystalline iron that anchors our place in the heavens. This spinning egg is a dynamo of energy. It is the mother of the magnetic fields that envelop us, reaching out into space many tens of thousands of miles. This shield of invisible electromagnetic current protects all life on Earth from a bombardment of high energy rays and ionizing particles streaming through the cosmos. Without it, Earth would be continually baked by the biting radiation of the stars.

So there is a price to pay for being on a living planet in motion. She organizes, refreshes and creates a landscape of magnificent beauty. But the ground will move. There will be earthquakes. We are at a point where we know the earthquake zones and can accurately map the fault lines that have quivered in the past. And the good news is that these are, geologically, very quite times. The Earth has within it the obvious power to shake us all to our knees. But she doesn’t often do that. She is good to her charges. Things are in good balance.

And despite the headlines, an earthquake is a hard thing to be killed by. Standing alone, even a large thrust may knock you off your feet, but unless the ground splits beneath your feet and you fall to your death, it is very unlikely that you might suffer serious injury. What kills people in earthquakes are falling buildings. The works of man crumble against this power and topple onto the trusting souls within. Globally, people resist the need to build structures that can withstand the shocks they know are coming.

It’s expensive. Who will pay? People and their families pay the price of a planet in motion.

Four years ago, on October 7th, 2005, over 30,000 people were killed in Pakistan and Kashmir in a single quake measuring 7.9 on the Richter Scale. Most were crushed under collapsing human structures. Many of these buildings made of mud and rock. Against the force driving out of the ground they crumbled, killing scores without warning. Others were trapped inside, bleeding, dying of heat, shock, dehydration and untold injuries.

California knows. Many people of the world know. Someday a large earthquake will strike. Maybe today. Maybe not for a hundred years. Maybe both.

More hurricanes will sweep the east coast and gulf states. But every day more people move into these areas. It is easy to see that it would be very difficult for emergency services to keep pace with the potential need. Everyone knows, but still they come. We love the warm. We love the water. And the hurricanes will come too.

All these foldings and unfoldings create an infinite mix. A perfect soup from which life arose and continues to nourish itself. Sometimes, from our living point of view the movements of the planet can seem unjust and indifferent. And sometimes it is very hard to take a wider view. But, See Do asked, please try and see.
